Genome sequence

The genome constitutes all genetisc material in a cell, i.e. chromosom(s) as well as any plasmid(s) and/or prophage(s).

The table contains accession number to GenBank, strain designation, genome size expressed in numbers of basepairs and information about how many chromosomes (usually one) and plasmids the bacterium carries. For instance, 1c + 2l means that the bacterium carries one circular chromosome and 2 linear plasmids. If the genome contains more than one chromosome, the number and sizes are given in a footnote. The abbreviation pp stands for prophage. If it is written 1c + 1c + 1pp, it means that the bacterium carries one 1 circular chromosome and 1 circular plasmid and 1 prophage.

The accession number can be used to find and download the sequence from GenBank. Superscript T after the strain designation means that the actual strain is a type strain.

Additional information can be retrieved from Genomes OnLine.
